The Lipoplasty University was established
for the purpose of promoting safe and ethical lipoplasty
procedures and ensuring high standards for the education,
live surgical training, and certification of the
6,000 plastic surgeons certified by the American
Board of Plastic Surgery and other accredited boards
plastic surgeons worldwide.
Lipoplasty has become the single most frequently
requested and performed type of cosmetic surgery.
While current boards cover lipoplasty as a procedure
there are few if any mechanisms in place that
are structured to train and certify plastic surgeons
in this procedure. Most of the lipoplasty training
is hands on in the operating room and few plastic
surgeons have the opportunity of having an expert
in lipoplasty teach them this procedure hands
on with the assistance of Gerard Illouz, Blair
Rogers and other leaders in the field.
The Lipoplasty University has structured a training
program that will allow all board certified plastic
surgeons to benefit from hands on training with
the most experienced plastic surgeons in the world.
This endeavor has been funded initially by generous
grants medical research funds and other donations.
The Lipoplasty University is a non-profit corporation.
